Who We Are
LiUNA! (Laborers) Local 11 represents construction workers in the DMV (Washington, DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia) Metropolitan area. Our members come from a variety of different socio-economic backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common: They are responsible for all the major construction in the DMV.

Local 11 is an affiliate of LIUNA - the Laborers' International Union of North America - the most progressive, aggressive, and fastest-growing union of construction workers, and one of the most diverse and effective unions representing public service employees. LIUNA members are united through collective bargaining agreements, which help us earn family-supporting pay, good benefits, and the opportunity for advancement and better lives.

What We Do
We work hard so that our members enjoy benefits unheard of for non-union workers. Government statistics show that the average pay for union construction workers is more than 50% above that of non-union construction workers. Also, union members are more likely to have healthcare and a pension- 82% of union construction workers have health insurance, compared to only 46% of non-union construction workers, and 77% of union construction workers have a pension plan, compared to only 35% of non-union construction workers. We advocate for good wages and benefits on behalf of workers and their families because we understand that when workers win, everyone in DC wins along with them.

Why We Do It
LiUNA! Local 11 believes that all construction workers should have a real voice in the workplace. We aim to unite workers around a common struggle for better workplace conditions. We know that workers who belong to a union receive better pay and benefits than workers who are not being represented. Our members work in the construction industry and earn family-supporting pay, good benefits, and the opportunity for advancement.
